we started this project by considering how to reconcile the extensive network of overhead beams in the apartment with the client’s wish to reconfigure the interior spaces. With this in mind, we sought to define the ceiling as a new datum that overrides the inherent structural layout and in-turn map out a reconfigured interior. The various higher ceiling dwelling spaces are clearly defined, contrasting with the transitory space below the ceiling feature that ties it all together.
